This undertaking was an investigation of re-authoring a unique story by utilizing typographic conventions.
The book is a synthesis of Writing by Marguerite Duras and The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action by Audre Lorde. While the former is a personal account of the author's own feelings about the act of writing, the latter is the transcript of a public speech urging people–especially the minorities–to speak up and express themselves. Since they reveal striking dissimilarities, the two texts are deliberately juxtaposed, creating a duality of Lorde's powerful, expressive voice and Duras' introspective, sentimental confession.
